DPS ANNUAL AWARDS FOR STAR SHOW SUCCESS

The Dartmoor Pony Society awards Star Show Status to a maximum of 18 shows in Great Britain annually. The results of these shows are the basis for the Stallion of the Year, Mare of the Year, Youngster of the Year, and Sire of the Year. In Star Show ridden classes some of the results count towards the Ridden Stallion, Mare and Gelding of the year awards.

These awards are presented at the DPS AGM and PRIZEGIVING weekend, which is held in the early Spring following the previous showing year. The competition for them is very high, at least partly because it helps to market the ponies (or relatives) that owners have for sale and the stallions they are standing at public stud.

DPS Star Shows currently take place from May to August and are followed by prestigious championships at the Horse of the Year Show, STARS, and the London International Horse Show.

The amount of success that Dartmoor Ponies have at all the above shows is much, much higher than would be expected by the low numbers bred by this rare breed demonstrating their excellent conformation, movement and gentle temperament.
