The Dartmoor Pony Society is searching for a new secretary, working from home approximately 30 hours per week. The position offers some flexibility of working hours with only a limited number of fixed commitments.

The Dartmoor Pony Society is searching for a new secretary, working from home approximately 30 hours per week. The position offers some flexibility of working hours with only a limited number of fixed commitments. Currently all work is carried out virtually but in the post-COVID era there may be a requirement to attend Council meetings and other events in Exeter/Devon a minimum of three and a maximum of twelve days per annum.

Duties are based around secretarial care of the DPS Council and wider membership but include dealing with incoming phone calls, a wide variety of correspondence according to Council’s wishes, all communications with the membership notably production of 3 newsletters per year, organising nominating, voting etc to meet constitutional deadlines, and taking and distributing minutes at Council Meetings. The ideal candidate will need to have a pleasant and dynamic character, a positive attitude, and be fully computer/IT literate, able to confidently use Word and Excel and social media platforms. A knowledge of Dartmoor ponies, or horses and ponies generally, would be an advantage but is not essential.
