Road closures on Dartmoor
Anyone travelling across Dartmoor in September should be aware that the B3357 and B3212 will be affected by road closures. The marked diversions are very long. All roadworks will be removed on 9th -10th Sept for Widecombe Fair.
Devon County Council will be carrying out repairs to damaged areas of road surface in the Two Bridges, Dartmeet, Poundsgate and Warren House area. The roads affected will be the B3357, B3212 and B3387.
To make the work more efficient and to minimise disruption we are carrying out this work along several sections of the road and will also be replacing the cattle grids at Dartmeet and Hemsworthy Gate under the same closure period.
The work will start on Monday 2nd September and last for approximately 3 weeks for the first phase and 2 weeks for the second (However, this work is weather dependent).
Road closures will be in place for the majority of this work. While the road is closed a signed diversion route will be in place.
The scheduled closures will be:
A. Two Bridges to Dartmeet: 2nd to 6th September.
B. Poundsgate to Dartmeet: 11th to 25th September (including Cattle Grid replacement at Dartmeet)
Diversion route for this phase will be via Two Bridges, Moretonhampstead, Bovey Tracy, Ashburton and vice versa.
A. Warren House to Challacombe Cross: 30th September to 11th October. (Diversion route will be via Moretonhampstead, Whiddon Down, A30, Tavistock and Two Bridges)
B. B3387 at Hemsworthy Gate: 7th to 9th October for Cattle Grid replacement. (Diversion route will be via Bovey Tracy, A38 and Ashburton vice versa)
NB: They will be removing all roadworks on 9th and 10th Sept for Widecombe Fair.
